The nuclear waste company SKB’s account of copper corrosion in the 20-year experimental packages in the LOT-recording in the Äspö laboratory can come before September 2020. The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) will carry out a quality review of the results that are planned to be completed before the turn of the year. On May 27, SSM and SKB met to give the authority information about the current situation with SKB’s handling of the two trial packages (A3 and S2) in the so-called LOT trial that were raised during the fall of 2019. SKB presented what has been done since the recording and the work that remains and a timetable for publishing results. In addition, the company’s project management and quality assurance work were presented. SSM previously presented similar quality review work and its current review plans that will be supported by a procured consultant.
