The Environment Agency has flagged a series of concerns over proposals for a new nuclear power station in Suffolk, warning that a lack of detail means that the impacts and proposed suitability of mitigations “cannot be assessed at this time”. Energy firm EDF plans to build and operate the new Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk on land immediately to the north of the Sizewell B power station. The application – which has yet to be submitted – will be determined via the fast-track Planning Act 2008 regime for nationally significant infrastructure projects, with the business secretary responsible for making a final decision.
