The head of Scotland’s environmental watchdog has quit after being told of misconduct allegations against him. Terry A’Hearn, who received a salary of about £130,000, resigned suddenly yesterday and a short statement was issued by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa). The nature of the alleged misdemeanours was kept under wraps, although the fact that the agency was unwilling to provide details “to protect anonymity” suggested that other individuals were involved.
