The South West is a hub for green industries. Exeter in Devon has the highest number of climate scientists of anywhere in the UK, while Cornwall was home to the UK’s first ever wind farm and is emerging as a trailblazer in wave energy. Dr Alice Mills and Dr Natalie Whitehead – who both live in Devon – are keen to change people’s perceptions of their region. The two physicists have unveiled a grand plan to establish the region’s first science centre, which they hope will plug residents and tourists alike into the scientific community that surrounds them.
