ReFood has officially opened a new anaerobic digestion (AD) facility in Dagenham. The ReFood Dagenham plant was opened by London’s deputy mayor for the environment and energy, Shirley Rodrigues, and is capable of processing more than 160,000 tonnes of food waste every year. The facility will also support Transport for London’s (TfL) clean air action plan through the generation of biomethane for gas-powered vehicles. At a later date, gas upgrading equipment may also be installed on site to supply high quality road fuel.
