Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Makes First Investment in Renewable Energy Infrastructure. Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), the asset management arm of Norway’s central bank, which manages the sovereign wealth fund, agreed to acquire a 50% stake in the Borssele offshore wind farm in the Netherlands from Danish energy firm Ørsted A/S for €1.375 billion ($1.63 billion). The fund was first permitted by parliament to invest in renewable energy assets in 2019 and evaluated eight other such projects last year before buying into the Dutch wind farm.

DORSET Council has not ruled out support for wind farms off the county’s coastline – although says that any future application will be decided at Government level. Climate campaigners say the only realistic way for Dorset to reduce net carbon dioxide emissions to zero as quickly as possible is to back offshore wind schemes on the scale of the previously proposed Navitus Bay project in Bournemouth Bay. Pete West, secretary to the Dorset Community Energy group, says that such a scheme would decarbonise the total electricity consumption of Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole at no cost to the council and could create hundreds of new jobs.
