A Scottish company is using “digital twin” technology to build replicas of entire communities in cyberspace. They say their aim is to help people reduce their energy bills and cut carbon emissions on a huge scale. One plan nearing completion is a project that will create digital twins of 30 schools for Stirling Council. The digital twinning concept is already widespread. In effect, it is a perfect replica in cyberspace of something that exists in the real world. It could be a machine, an animal or a building.
