A North Korean hacking group targeted South Korea’s state-run nuclear think tank last month, a South Korean lawmaker said on Friday. Ha Tae-keung, a member of the parliamentary intelligence committee and an opposition lawmaker, said 13 unauthorised IP addresses accessed the intranet system of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) on 14 May. Citing a report from Seoul-based cybersecurity firm IssueMakersLab, the lawmaker said that at least one address could be traced to North Korean hacking group Kimsuky.

UN Diplomat Warns ‘Nuclear War Could Break Out At Any Moment’. North Korea’s deputy UN ambassador Kim In-ryong told the General Assembly the situation on the Korean peninsula ‘has reached the touch-and-go point’ and defended despot Kim Jong-un’s huge military arsenal. Kim In-ryong, speaking to the UN General Assembly’s disarmament committee, claimed North Korea is the only country in the world that has been subjected to ‘such an extreme and direct nuclear threat’ from the United States since the 1970s, and his so-called Supreme Leader has the right to possess nuclear missiles in self-defence.
