No charge points have been installed by the ESB in Dublin since 2016, despite government plans to boost the number of electric vehicles on the road. Richard Bruton, the minister for climate action and the environment, recently told the Dáil that in Ireland there are more than 650 standard public charge points, and 78 “fast” stations. However, he said that the ESB, which manages much of the state’s electric vehicle charging network, has not installed any new charge points in almost four years.
