The Watchfield Inn near Highbridge has gone back on the market, just months after controversial plans for Hinkley Point accommodation to be sited there were axed. The plans to install 100 Portakabins next to the pub to serve as temporary accommodation for Hinkley workers were scrapped last August following a heated public meeting and an outcry from nearby residents. Estate agents Sidney Phillips describe the pub as a “substantial property in large grounds with a paddock for 12 touring Caravans, plus a car park and spacious bar and function room providing 3,500 square feet of customer space.”
