Solar energy growth in Germany is likely to slow markedly in the coming years unless the government repeals a law that caps incentives, the BSW solar industry association said on Thursday. German law only foresees offering feed-in tariffs for solar energy until the country has a cumulative installed capacity of 52 GW of photovoltaic systems. That threshold might be reached “within a year”, the BSW said in a statement. Thereafter, rooftop solar deployment could whither to just a few hundred megawatts per year.
