EDF employees were less mobilized this Tuesday against the pension reform project , compared to last week, according to figures published at mid-day by the management of the company. But the milder temperatures have allowed them to further reduce production. Employees are effectively required, even during a strike, to ensure a balance between supply and demand on the French electricity grid. This Tuesday at noon, the strikers have reduced electricity production by 5.6 gigawatts, according to EDF. At the height of the strike last Thursday, this drop was only 1.7 gigawatts. The lower temperatures then caused a spike in consumption that did not leave much room for strikers.
