French government suspends EDF reform – unions. The French government suspended its EDF reform plan immediately for lack of agreement with the European Commission, two energy unions said Wednesday, citing official sources. “We are not going to table a bill in the short term even if, of course, we remain committed to the continuation of this essential reform to ensure the future of EDF”, declared ministerial sources quoted by the FNME- CGT. These sources cited the lack of agreement with the European Commission “on some of the red lines” of the government. This excluded in particular calling into question the integrated nature of EDF, nearly 84% owned by the State.
