RTE and AIE publish their study on the conditions of an electricity system with a high share of renewable energies in France by 2050. As France and a growing number of countries around the world set ambitious goals to achieve carbon neutrality, variable renewables like wind and solar power are expected to become the main building blocks of power systems around the world. In a joint report, commissioned by the Ministry of Ecological Transition at the end of 2019, RTE (Electricity Transport Network) and the IEA (International Energy Agency) describe four strict and cumulative conditions that public policies must take into account. account if they were to move towards an electricity mix with a high proportion of renewable energies by 2050.
