Radioactive leaks: EDF accused of opacity. Seven months after the radioactive pollution of groundwater at the Cruas nuclear site in Ardèche, the cause of the leak is not identified. Independent experts denounce EDF’s “glaring lack of transparency”. It is the tritium atom of too much that broke the camel’s back. On December 10, the Criirad (Commission for Research and Independent Information on Radioactivity), which specializes in monitoring nuclear activity in France, slammed the door of the local information commission (CLI) of the nuclear power plant of Cruas-Meysse, Ardeche. The reason ? A series of incidents in Cruas. And in particular radioactive leaks detected on May 15 in the water table, located just below the four reactors of 900 megawatts (MW).
