On December 14, 2018 a fire on a transformer outside the Creys-Malville nuclear site (Isère) caused a general power outage. The rescue diesels started well, but they could not feed all the installations of the site. The swimming pool of the workshop for the evacuation of the nuclear fuel was not cooled any more during several hours. The teams were mobilized, the prefecture and the Nuclear Safety Authority warned. Only the next day, palliative means were put in place to restore the power supply to the entire nuclear site. And it is only 4 days later, on December 18th, that EDF will communicate on this incident. Since the diesels could not fulfil their function as emergency power sources.
