Andrew Warren: The Green Homes Grant Scheme has one glaring omission – energy efficient lighting. In 2016 the average household spent £87.38 on lighting – just 17% of the electricity bill. If consumption had remained at 1990 they would have spent £164. The Lighting Association reckons that by 2025 the bill could drop to £16 pa. Lighting is one of the main reasons electricity consumption has fallen by 16% over the past 15 years.
