The firm behind Wylfa Newydd tells MPs that it is confident about the project despite concerns about Hinkley Point. The company behind a new nuclear power station for Anglesey restated its commitment to making it a reality as the industry was rocked by concerns over another planned plant. The decision of the finance director of EDF to quit – reportedly because he feared the Hinkley Point project could jeopardise his company’s financial position – sent shockwaves around the industry. But Alan Raymant, chief operating officer for Horizon Nuclear Power, struck an upbeat tone when he appeared before Welsh MPs in Westminster yesterday. However he did stress the need to secure more investors for the construction phase of the Wylfa Newydd project.
