Horizon Nuclear Power, the company behind the proposed Wylfa Newydd new nuclear plant on Anglesey, has appointed Masahide Tanigaki as its new chairman. Tanigaki has worked for the company’s Japanese owner – Hitachi – since 1975 and served as senior vice president and executive officer at the conglomerate up until April 2014. He has also held posts as the chairman of Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy and advisor to the chief executive of Hitachi, and has been a board director at Horizon since 2014. In his new role he will continue to work from Tokyo, where he is based.
