National Grid Carbon Intensity Forecast
These graphs are based on National Grid's forecast for carbon intensity of the GB electricity supply, including embedded electricity generation and interconnector imports. The intensity is calculated using slightly different intensity factors to those used in electricity info calculations.
Carbon Intensity Forecast Today
LOW: 64 ; AVERAGE: 83 ; HIGH: 133 CO2 g/kWh*
This chart will auto refresh every 5 minutes. Last refresh 07:58.
Actual intensity data is not available in real time and will usually be about an hour behind.
Carbon Intensity Forecast Tomorrow
LOW: 52 ; AVERAGE: 72 ; HIGH: 90 CO2 g/kWh*
Notes
The carbon intensity data for these graphs is National Grid half-hourly data for GB electricity, including embedded solar and wind generation, and interconnector imported electricity.
National Grid carbon intensity factors for each fuel source are slightly different from those used by electricity info elsewhere on the site.
The red and green zones in the Carbon Intensity charts represent the upper and lower quartiles for the half-hourly intensity data over the period.
A warning on white goods
If you intend using carbon intensity data to decide when to run white goods like washing machines and tumble dryers, please take note of Fire Service advice not to run such equipment at night or while unattended.
