One of the largest installation of rooftop solar panels in the Borders has been installed at the former Barbour factory in Tweedbank. It’s apt that the building now plays host to the Borders Renewable Centre – home to several businesses – and their landlord, Cameron Crawford of JSC Estates, says he hopes to roll out the initiative to all of the company’s buildings across the Borders. The solar panels cover 45,000 square feet, more than half the area of a football pitch, and puts out 199kw of power. Mr Crawford said: “This was an exciting project as we wanted to provide eco-friendly and sustainable units providing green power, so that all our tenants can be environmentally-conscious of their carbon footprint. “We’re looking to roll out future projects to allow the remainder of our portfolio to have the option of green energy as well.
