Renewables are expected to show the highest growth rate, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5%, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company. The company’s latest report ‘UK Power Market Outlook to 2030, Update 2019 – Market Trends, Regulations, and Competitive Landscape’ reveals that, installed renewable capacity in the UK increased from 1.4 Gigawatt (GW) in 2000 to 42.1GW in 2018, at a CAGR of 21.1%.

Renewable energy production beats fossil fuels in Europe for the first half 2019. UK based energy data service provider and consultancy EnAppSys released its quarterly review of the European energy market. While renewables have covered a large chunk of the continent’s demand, that trend will likely change in the second half of the year, as production from renewables falls. Meanwhile, coal generation is being pushed out of the U.K. market, although not fully to the benefit of renewables as gas-fired power plants are picking up momentum.
