The number of people employed in renewable energy jobs worldwide rose to eleven million in 2018, their highest ever level, according to the latest analysis by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). That’s up from 10.3 million the previous year, as South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam emerging as solar jobs hotspots. Previously, renewable energy industries were concentrated in a few major markets, particularly China, the US and the EU. But 2018 saw an intensification in production of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels across Asia, IRENA said.
