EDF Energy has instructed workers to move on to site at Hinkley Point C as soon as possible, so that vital work on the nuclear project can continue but keep to coronavirus social distancing regulations. Workers at nuclear site Hinkley Point C will move onsite to halt the risk of spreading coronavirus in communities, and to allow for work on the nuclear site to continue, EDF has announced. Worker buses from nearby villages have also been suspended after EDF Energy, which runs the project, heard concerns queuing was endangering communities where social distancing is difficult or impossible to enforce. EDF suspended buses moving workers from Bridgewater to the site on Monday, and a spokesperson for the energy group said other bus services would also be stopped this week. Hinkley Point C construction delivery director Nigel Cann said he hoped the “extra measures […] will reassure those of you worried by the local presence of our remaining workers”.
