If, in recent years, France has stopped several coal and oil-fired power plants, it is far from having completed its energy transition. By 2022, the last four coal plants in the country will also have to close, totally or partially. Especially, in the first half of 2020, the two reactors of the oldest nuclear power plant in Fessenheim (Haut-Rhin), will be stopped, in accordance with the commitments made by the previous government and confirmed by Emmanuel Macron.
