A year ago, a serious anomaly detected on the reactor number 2 of the Fessenheim plant led to the shutdown of the reactor. This irregularity that concerns the oldest nuclear power plant in France (connected to the network 40 years ago) is reminiscent of the history of the tank of the Flamanville EPR. A symptomatic history of the nuclear issue in France, where ever more scandalous revelations seem to be increasingly inactive. Severe anomaly: what is it talking about? Just a year ago, reactor number 2 at the Fessenheim plant was shut down due to a serious anomaly. The relevant piece? A steam generator, an essential component of nuclear reactors. According to the ASN, the part exhibits a manufacturing irregularity. An anomaly that is reminiscent of that of the tank of the EPR. As a reminder, 400 anomalies were detected at this stage by the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) on nearly 30 reactors of the French nuclear fleet. The audit is still ongoing. Given the severity of the anomaly detected at Fessenheim, the reactor was not about to restart. In fact, the production of this plant in Fessenheim, which is so hard to close, has been considerably reduced during the past year.
